The American Constitution Society of Yale Law School, in conjunction with the Yale College Democrats, is honored to be hosting Judge Abner Mikva, the former 5-term congressman from Chicago, former Chief Justice of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, former White House Counsel under Clinton, and current professor at the University of Chicago Law School. Judge Mikva's address, “The President as Commander in Chief in the 21st Century,” will examine the current use of executive power.

Yale has committed to reducing greenhouse gases by 10% below 1990 levels by 2020! You can help with achieving this important goal by signing the Yale Energy Pledge at http://www.yale.edu/energy.
The Yale Energy Pledge:
I pledge to contribute to Yale’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gases by 10% below 1990 levels by 2020 by encouraging:
- Yale Facilities to set the temperature in common areas between 70-73 degrees during the day and reduce 3-5 degrees in the evening where applicable.
I commit to taking action by:
- Setting the temperature in my suite to 70-73 degrees during the day and reducing 3-5 degrees in the evening where applicable.
- Assuring that all of my appliances are unplugged and my windows are closed during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
- Setting power management features on my computer.
- Unplugging my computer, lights, and appliances when not in use.
- Washing only full loads and using cold bright colors or warm colors setting.
- Using Energy Star appliances.
- Contacting Facilities at www.yale.edu/energy if I identify an energy issue in my residential college.
I pledge to contribute to a 5% energy reduction in my residential college which will lead to 1/3 of our electricity being supplied by renewable sources.
