testing

If this works. I rock.
If it doesn't.... then I need to go to bed.

One last test.
Yes, it really is 4:40.

I'll have this nonsense post down by tomorrow morning.
In good news, the blog is now fully operational. :-D And I think it looks spectacular! Not that I'm biased or anything.
Posted by Kevin Bock at January 19, 2006 05:08 AM
Although... the blog does have a tendancy to block nearly every comment you try to make because it thinks that it's spam. I'll have to work on that... on the other hand, it is better than all of the stuff that we used to get posted here!
[Ironically, the website also tagged this comment as spam and I had to go and approve it myself to get it to post.]

This is much sweet.

I'm completely ok with you having entiiiiiiirely too much time. At 5:17 am.
And yes, this works phenomenally. Rock on.

Kevin rocks the free world. I want to have his children. Not really for all those future employers who are reading this deciding not to hire me like some do on the facebook. No seriously. Employers try to get access to the facebook to see if you are a drug addcit, alcoholic, etc. There was an article in the NYT. That's kind of messed up. Be careful. Ok, I must now read about africa. But seriously, this is really incredible and should make a big difference about what we can do in the future. Kudos.

Just testing again.
UPDATE: Once you have posted your first comment to the blog you shouldn't have any difficulties in posting your second, as long as you post with the same email address.
Posted by Kevin Bock at January 19, 2006 05:55 PM
Seriously?
Posted by Nate at January 20, 2006 12:50 AM
W00t! It works!
Posted by Nate at January 20, 2006 12:51 AM
Well, it's sort of working. For some reason the spam filter seems to be completely ignoring some comments which would definitely fail the test if they were filtered. And I think the "Remember my info" button isn't quite working yet, either. I may just nix that, actually because I don't think it's that big of a hassle for people to type thier name and email address to comment...

Me gusta mucho.
Kevin, you rock.
Do alcoholics and drug addicts put the fact that they're alcoholics and drug addicts on thefacebook?
I need to go to sleep.

You know what else rocks? I can change the time that's listed for your comment, Brendan - make it look like you posted that at 8pm and were already headed to bed. :-p
That's funny to me, anyways. When you sit in your room all day looking at computer code and chemistry equations... well, I guess that f*s up your sense of humor...
Anyhow, look for me to actually post something substantive, soon.
We should probably come up with some set of "rules" for the blog, too. Do we have a policy on swearing, "trolling" (look it up if you don't know what that means), etc?
Posted by Kevin Bock at January 22, 2006 10:24 PM
http://blog.yaledemocrats.com. What a beautiful idea.
Subdomains are easier to remember, and increase click-through rates. Don't ask me why.
PS. I don't care too much about this one, but can we get RSS feeds for the comments?

PS. I don't care too much about this one, but can we get RSS feeds for the comments?
Umm... probably. It's not a real priority for me right now either, so don't count on it very soon. If someone wants to make a strong case for this, I'll look into it further.
In the mean time, I think I'd rather sort our current RSS feeds into "events" and "blog". That should be a fairly simple prospect, so look for that in the next week or so.
[UPDATE:] Turns out that I've found an easy way to do both of those. Although I only know how to do the comments feed for RSS 2.0. Scott, do you know, how strong is the following for RSS 1.0, RSD and Atom? RSS 1.0 and RSD are basically dead, right? Is there a compelling reason to continue supporting anything other than RSS 2.0?
